Is taurine safe?

That said, the picture is still evolving. In 2025, researchers at the University of Rochester published a study in the journal Nature showing that certain leukemia cells can use taurine as a fuel source to grow. The research was conducted in mice and human cell samples, and it does not show that energy drinks cause cancer.
